Spring 2018 MAP Testing

Dear Parents,

MAP Testing for the Spring starts this Monday, May 7th.  Your child will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP).   The test schedule is posted to the school’s internal calendar, which you can access through your Parent PlusPortals account.

We give students MAP tests to determine students’ instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of Mathematics, Reading and Language Usage.

MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. Additionally, MAP tests allow us to administer shorter tests and use less class time while still receiving detailed, accurate information about your child’s growth.

MAP Tests require no prior academic preparation. The tests are designed to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the year, and from year to year.  The following are tips for parents to help their children prepare for testing:

Specific to each Testing Season:

  • Make sure that your child is well rested on school days and especially the day of a test. Children who are tired are less able to pay attention in class or handle the demands of a test.
  • Give your child a well-rounded diet. A healthy body leads to a healthy, active mind.

MAP reports are available immediately after testing.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Ryan Hetzer the Upper School Principal.
