General Information

The American School of Marrakesh is open to all students who have the ability to successfully participate in our program regardless of their nationality, religion, or race.  The Admissions Office operates on a rolling basis.  We will consider prospective students who meet our admissions criteria until spots are filled.


Priority of Admissions

Priority of admissions is normally given to students with siblings already enrolled in our school, but only for the period prior to the deadline given to ASM families each year. After this period admission is open to all applicants.

Age Requirements and Grade Placement

ASM believes it is important to ensure children are placed in classes along with their age-peers, especially at elementary grade levels. To be admitted, a child has to have reached the required age by September 1st. Please note that no exceptions can be made in this regard. In addition to our age requirements, our Admissions Committee takes the following aspects into consideration:

  • Current placement
  • Academic records from previous schools
  • Teacher recommendations
  • Student Interview
  • Availability in the appropriate grade

ASM cannot admit students who have special learning needs and/or behavioral problems that require special attention in the form of an alternate curriculum and/or a special aid in the classroom.

Age Requirements:
Grade Level
KG 0 2 Years of Age
KG1 3 Years of Age
KG2 4 Years of Age
KG3 5 Years of Age

*For other grades, add one year.

Open Enrollment

ASM has a rolling admission. Students are admitted to different grade levels as spots become available. Applications are considered throughout the school year. All students admitted to ASM must provide proof of schooling up to their transition period to ASM.

Kindergarten 1-3 Requirements

All students admitted to our Pre-Kindergarten program must meet the following requirements:

  • Potty trained
  • Able to separate from parents with minimal disruption
Conditional Admission/Probationary Period of Acceptance

All newly admitted students are placed on a probationary period of 12 weeks commencing on the student’s first day of classes at ASM. The school will use this period to evaluate the student’s ability to perform successfully in our program. If it turns out that the student is struggling and is unable to keep up with our program, the school reserves the right to revoke admission.  In some cases, especially in the upper school, the admissions office may place a new student on conditional admission for one year.
