Head of School

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Head of School is responsible for the effective operation of all aspects of the school’s programs. Parents and students who have any questions or concerns relating to the general operation of ASM, or matters pertaining to academic life should contact the Head of School. He chairs meetings related to Curriculum and to school operations.

The Head of School is responsible for the success of parent and student organizations, clubs, publications, student advising, and other educational activities. He works with the School Community so that life at ASM reflects the school’s values and commitment to diversity and respect for others.

He oversees the scheduling of classes and the successful advancement of students through ASM and onward to college.

Assistant Head

Reporting to the Head of School, the Assistant Head provides leadership in the implementation of the School’s Mission, and in the achievement of its goals and objectives.

The Assistant Head:

  • Works closely with Division Coordinators to ensure a smooth functioning of each of the school’s divisions
  • Works closely with Curriculum Directors to oversee the development and implementation of the curriculum, within the guidelines of the school’s accrediting organizations
  • Oversees the completion of the self-study process towards accreditation by the Middle States Association
  • Leads the development and implementation of a Supervision for Growth process for all teaching staff
  • Oversees, in collaboration with the Admissions Director, the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and assists in the recruitment process
  • Oversees, in collaboration with the Human Resources Coordinator, the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and assists in staff recruitment
  • Leads specific projects as assigned by the Head.
Human Resources Manager

Reporting to the Head of School, the Human Resources Manager deals with HR issues within the School. She manages payroll services including social security, income declarations, services to employees and banking. She is in charge of developing and updating payroll policies and procedures, preparing contracts and implementing approved plans regarding compensation and benefits. She manages the health insurance program liaising with the School’s insurance providers. She oversees faculty attendance and health & safety issues.

Lower School Principal

The Lower School Principal is responsible for the successful functioning of the Lower School and works closely with the Head of School, the Assistant Head and the Upper School Principal. He oversees the daily program of Grades KG0 to 5, develops schedules, organizes activities, meets with faculty members and parents, maintains discipline and oversees the continuous development and implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum.

Parents and students who have any questions or concerns related to the general functioning of the Lower School, or matters pertaining to academic life in grades KG0 to 5, should contact the Lower School Principal.

The Lower School Principal reports directly to the Head of School.

Middle School Principal

The Middle School Principal is responsible for the proper functioning of the Middle School (Grades 6-8). He works closely with the leadership team to see that the administrative needs of the school are met, and that the Middle School is functioning in an effective and efficient manner. The Middle School Principal develops schedules, meets with faculty members and parents, and oversees discipline in Grades 6 to 8.

The Middle School Principal reports directly to the Head of School.

High School Principal

The High School Principal is responsible for the proper functioning of the High School (Grades 9-12). He works closely with the leadership team to see that the administrative needs of the school are met, and that the High School is functioning in an effective and efficient manner. The High School Principal develops schedules, meets with faculty members and parents, and oversees discipline in Grades 9 to 12.

The High School Principal reports directly to the Head of School.

Curriculum Coordinator

The Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for helping to build the curriculum, develop assessment strategies, conduct and coordinate professional development, observe student learning activities and collaborate with teachers on their instructional practices.

The Curriculum Coordinator also assists with teachers’ design of standards-aligned unit and lesson plans. She works on researching innovative pedagogical techniques and instructional resources. She works directly with teachers to help them build a rigorous and engaging program that aligns with the curriculum standards across the grade-levels in order to maximize students’ learning.
