Teachers and administrators at ASM employ a multiple data points system to measure student learning and the effectiveness of our instructional program, both internally and externally, in order to ensure curricular coherence.  Some of the external exams we use are Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests, PSAT, SAT and AP. The internal assessment tools we use to measure student progress and the coherence of our curricular program are: cornerstone and common assessments, diagnostic and formative assessments, and summative assessments.   At ASM, assessment serves to inform and improve instruction. Teachers use results to build on students’ strengths and target specific areas for improvement; students learn to self- and peer-assess in order to collaborate with their peers, develop deeper understandings, and become increasingly responsible for their own learning.
